  3.     The Front Page News is a collection of over 10 News Wire
  4.     Services on 1 CD-ROM.   There are over 330,000 articles 
  5.     covering July 1991 - June 1992.
  6.     All articles are organized in reverse chronological order.
  7.

  11.     The Front Page News is divided into two separate databases:
  12.         News : "Front_Page_News. CTL"  -- 330,000 ++ articles
  13.                         (Includes all the wire services except daily market information)
  14.         and
  15.         Financial Markets : "Financial_Markets. CTL" -- 9000 ++ articles
  16.             (Includes only the daily financial market information, the
  17.              "Front_Page_News. CTL" would include articles about financial news)

  19.     To Get Started:
  20.         Double click on either "Front_Page_News. CTL"
  21.         or "Financial_Markets. CTL"
  22.  
  23.     See the file "TABLE_OF_CONTENTS" to find out where each
  24.         month of articles begin and end in the database
  25.        "Front_Page_News. CTL".

  27.     Ideas on how to use the Front Page News:
  28.         There are so many articles that one can not expect to page
  29.         through all the articles.  First you need to decide what sort
  30.         of information you are looking for.
  31.         As an example, you may want background information on
  32.         Patrick Buchanan who is running against Bush for the
  33.         Republican Presidential Nomination.  In articles he may be
  34.         referred to as Patrick Buchanan or Pat Buchanan, but
  35.         first try searching for "Buchanan".  This is accomplished by
  36.         clicking on the "Search" button in the "Navigation" window
  37.         (a small rectangular window on the right side of your
  38.         screen) or by pressing command key and "S".  A Search dialog
  39.         will now appear.  Now type in "Buchanan" (omit the quotes)
  40.         into the first Search box and press return or (Search).  Next
  41.         a "Hit List" window appears which tells you how many
  42.         articles mention "Buchanan" and a list of articles is built in
  43.         this window.  A "hit" is an article that mentions "Buchanan"
  44.         and a "hit list" is list of those articles.  Once your cursor
  45.         changes back to normal (non-waiting) you can scroll through
  46.         the list of "hits" and double click on any one to view.  You 
  47.         can now try to narrow down your search by typing in more 
  48.         words into the "Search" dialog, such as Patrick Buchanan; 
  49.         or Pat Buchanan.  See "help" under "Apple" menu for 
  50.         more complex searches.

  52.     Searching for dates in the Front Page News:
  53.         Do a "Search" as before, a date is in the form "06/28/92"
  54.         (with no quotes) the date searched for would be June 
  55.         28th.  Each date will have many articles and should be
  56.         used in conjunction with other search words.
